RUTH M. BATSON SOCIAL JUSTICE AWARD

ABOUT THE AWARD
The Office for Diversity and Community Partnership established this award to be given annually during the Reflection in Action (RIA) event. The award was named in honor of Boston's own Ruth M. Batson, an individual who represented the vision and purpose of RIA. Baston was a distinguished Boston matriarch who advocated tirelessly on behalf of those marginalized by society. Without exception, her life’s mission was consistent with the vision and goals of this office. She advocated on behalf of increased diversity in educational institutions, improved individual and community health services, and increased awareness of educational opportunities Ruth M. Batson was a role model for civic engagement.
