PROGRAMS FOR FELLOWS AND JUNIOR FACULTY

THE COMMONWEALTH FUND/HARVARD UNIVERSITY FELLOWSHIP IN MINORITY HEALTH POLICY

FELLOWS' BIOS: 2008-2009

THOMAS HALLIGAN, MD
Thomas Halligan, MD

Associate Medical Director, La Clinica de la Raza, Oakland, CA

Dr. Halligan is a family physician who delivers comprehensive outpatient and inpatient primary care services to an ethnically diverse, mainly immigrant community of all ages in his role as Associate Medical Director at La Clinica de la Raza, San Antonio NHC in Oakland, CA. He has been a Clinical Instructor at University of California, San Francisco, Department of Family and Community Medicine.

His volunteer efforts include stints as a volunteer physician at Albert Schweitzer Hospital, Haiti; at Guayaquil Infectious Diseases Hospital, Ecuador; and as a volunteer coordinator at the Center for AIDS Services.

Dr. Halligan’s interests and priorities never waver from those of the patients he serves, so his primary areas of focus have been the California state legislative health care agenda, the current federal immigration debate, and his ongoing work on behalf of those living with HIV and AIDS.

Dr. Halligan received his medical degree from Loyola University, Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine in 1998 and completed his residency in family medicine as a Chief Resident at University of California, Los Angeles, Ventura County Medical Center in 2001.
