Established 1999
The Program for Research
and Investigation in Science and Math (PRISM)
provides 3 weeks of enjoyable summer academics
and activities at the Harvard Medical School
for rising 9th grade students. The program
is designed to ease the transition from middle
to high school and to help students build a
solid foundation in their math and science
skills. PRISM promotes critical, analytical,
and independent thinking skills through classroom,
laboratory, computer and field trip activities.
PRISM also promotes overall literacy skills
through case-based learning. Students learn
basic scientific and mathematical principles
in the context of medical physiology and disease
processes. They also learn how math and science
together explain natural phenomena.
