TEACHER RESEARCH INTERNSHIP PROGRAM (TRIP)

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Established in 2003, the Teacher Research Internship Program (TRIP) provides the opportunity for middle and high school science teachers from Boston and Cambridge to participate in a 6-week, intensive, hands-on mentored summer research experience with Harvard faculty.  Participants work as full-time, active members of a research team while focusing on disorders that affect the heart, lungs and blood and/or other biological research topics. Teachers are also expected to develop mini case studies/lesson plans as part of their research experience to share with students at their home schools. Participants will receive a stipend upon completion of the internship. 

 

APPLICATION MATERIALS AND DEADLINE

Program not offered for 2009.

 

ELIGIBLE TEACHERS MUST:
  • Be a middle or high school science teacher in the Boston Public Schools or Cambridge Public Schools.
  • Demonstrate an interest and ability in science, with a desire to encourage students to pursue a career in science and attend college.
  • Be willing to attend all program seminars and activities.
  • Be committed to participating in TRIP for program duration.
  • Create a science-based case study/lesson plan by the end of the internship.

  • Obtain endorsement from headmaster/principal
  • Program not offered for 2009
