Programs is
an effort toward beginning to catalogue

HMS medical community. We hope that
this book will stimulate interaction
among the many programs and
among those committed to
ensuring a diverse and talented community.

Directory of Health Policy, Leadership
and Minority Health Training Programs describes
institutional training and fellowship
initiatives in the areas of health
policy, minority health, public health
leadership, and health services research,
particularly programs targeting health
professionals and minority individuals.

Guide aims
to help incoming students become
acclimated with the Harvard Medical
School (HMS) campus and the surrounding
areas. The guide features services
that cater to minority consumers,
also featuring businesses and
services in Greater Boston.

In
Touch with BSCP is the Biomedical Science Career Program's newsletter,
is a publication which serves as a guide to students by focusing on issues related
to mentoring, financial aid and career opportunities. The publication is mailed
to over 4,000 subscribers three times a year. The past issues can be found in
the digital archive. |

The
New England Resource Directory is a product
of MFDP and the Biomedical Science Careers Program (BSCP). This New England regional
resource directory provides information to students, advisors and administrators
on outreach efforts and science related programs at New England educational institutions,
hospitals and biomedical-related firms. |

Against All Odds: The Legacy of Students of African Descent at Harvard Medical School before Affirmative Action 1850-1968 by Nora Nercessian
In February 1990, an exhibition entitled The Afro-American Presence in Medicine, 1850–1930: The Harvard Connection drew attention to a group of students of African descent who studied at Harvard Medical School between 1850 and 1930. This book further expands on the parameters of the exhibit and on the literature that has appeared since the 1950s on some of the graduates. |
