Volume 6-Winter 1999 Summer Placements Needed For Students Laboratories or clinical placements are needed in the quad and at the affiliates for minority and/or disadvantaged high school and college students from Boston or Cambridge. Students will work from July through August 1999, and will participate in Project Success: Opening the Door to Biomedical Careers. Sponsored by Faculty Development and Diversity and the Minority Faculty Development, this program brings highly qualified students for a mentored research summer experience in a basic science or clinical laboratory or public policy setting. All students are carefully screened for interest and ability in science and for their wish to pursue careers in science or medicine. Work placements are asked to provide students with a supportive environment and an experiment or project. Assistance in ensuring that this is a smooth process will be provided by the Project Success staff based at HMS. Past laboratories have represented the quadrangle as well as many of the Harvard-affiliates, the dental school and Forsyth Dental and school of public health. Student projects have included bench research, clinical investigation, and epidemiological projects. For more information, contact:
